Dental Implants, Madison NJ

Have you lost one or more of your teeth? Are you wearing dentures or other replacement teeth?
Dental Implants could change your life. The loss of a tooth can severely affect our eating patterns, self-confidence and appearance. Missing teeth and gaps in your mouth can distract from an otherwise beautiful smile.

Dental Implants offer a permanent solution to this problem; actually mimicking your natural teeth and providing fully functional replacements for missing teeth.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are generally made from titanium and are essentially a screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone. Dental Implants take on the role of an anchor within the mouth, which is then used to fasten “false teeth” into position. As the mouth heals, approximately three to six months after surgery; the bone and Implant begin to fuse together. Small posts or abutments are then attached to the Implants, which are used to anchor Crowns, Bridges or Veneers.

A Natural Finish

Dental Implants will enable you to recover the natural function of your teeth and recapture your beautiful smile. The dental implant root is extremely durable and with porcelain Crowns, Bridges and Veneers you have, not only a beautiful smile, but one with natural-feeling function.

Bone Grafting

As we age, previous or existing dental problems may make the loss of some or all of our teeth inevitable. While some of our older patients still get dentures, many are now opting to replace missing teeth with dental implants. Implant success is directly related to the presence of quality bone in the area of the implant site. If the Jawbone has been eroded, a bone grafting procedure can be utilized to rebuild lost bone and provide a solid basis for your new tooth. The procedure is virtually pain free and can be done in our office.

How it works

Your dentist will sometimes use a small amount of bone, usually from your hip or leg, to build up your jawbone, but more commonly dentists use an artificial bone substitute. Cow bone for example is used frequently. Using artificial bone stimulates your body to build new bone around the site. The latter option is used to avoid patients having to go to the hospital and having a physician harvest real bone.

There are several types of bone grafts. Your dentist will determine the best type for your particular condition.
